Who is Moonpie Mike?

A cross between Rick Bragg and Jimmy Buffett. A guy who may seem like a laid back redneck, but is smarter than people think.

Mike believes the world can be generally broken down to 4 things:  music, football, MoonPies and dogs. For years, he traveled around the country, talking to people about nothing in particular, which does not exactly qualify as a career. It did, however, give Mike a distinctive view on life and since we felt he needed gainful employment, we gave him a job here at MoonPie doing what he does best: telling stories. We also like to think we’re helping keep him out of trouble.

It was a year ago this past May that I found an old grocery store that looked to be frozen in time up there in Butcher Holler, just outside Paintsville KY. Among other things, we all bought Moon Pies. It was the absolute best Moon Pie ever.

Had I’d known they were of that quality, I’d have purchase their full inventory. I live 500 miles away from Butcher Holler and that’s a little far to go for a Moon Pie, but we’re thinking….

  75. We miss getting our Mint Moon Pies from Piggly Wiggly in North Carolina. The Marine Corps sent us to El Paso, Texas and my daughter is going crazy trying to find a place locally that sells Mint Moon Pies. I think we are going to have to break down and buy them online and get her a case for her birthday.

    • Moonpie Mike says:

      Stephanie –

The cost of a case of MoonPies on our website plus shipping is usually a lot cheaper than you can get them in stores. (If you buy them by the case, the shipping is the same as shipping one box).

If you aren’t ready for the shipping route, do you have a Cracker Barrel, Family Dollar, Dollar General or Bass Pro Shop near you? Most of their stores carry MoonPies.

      • Cindy Stantz says:

I am in love with double chocolate moonpies but am having trouble finding them in our area of Indiana. Can find the mini at dollar general, but they leave me wanting more. Haven’t seen the mint or peanut butter. How can I order them online? thank you so much

        • Moonpie Mike says:

Cindy – You can order on our website – http://www.moonpie.com/shop Please note that shipping one box of MoonPies costs almost the same as shipping a case, due to minimum shipping costs we are charged. We recommend buying multiple boxes of MoonPies or a box and a t-shirt or other MoonPie merchandise to help offset the shipping costs.

  76. Mary says:

  88. David Ebel says:

I seldom see them now in San Diego .. but growing up and when we lived in the Atlanta area they were a staple treat for the whole family! I have lots of great Moon Pie memories!

  89. Cindy Murrell says:

I never see them much in my area and when I came to the web site and I saw that you make strawberry moon pie’s I would love to try them, so when I went looking for them I found Banana one’s so I bought them, So can you tell me were I can find them?

    • Moonpie Mike says:

Cindy – Strawberry isn’t as popular as the other flavors so they are harder to find. We use distributors to send MoonPies all over the country, so while we have a general idea of which stores have MoonPies, we don’t usually know which flavors they have. Do you have a Bass Pro Shop, Cracker Barrel, Family Dollar or Dollar General near you? Most of these stores carry MoonPies. We also have a few grocery store chains listed on this page of our website: http://moonpie.com/52
