MoonPies have become a tradition at our hunting camp. It all started in
1995 when I took a 4 point buck while eating a MoonPie. That stand has
infamously become known as the "MoonPie Blind." Every year since
then it has been considered good luck to carry MoonPies in your pack while
hunting. This year my Dad brought some double MoonPies to camp. We didn't
even know you could buy a double MoonPie. Boy was I excited. We all joked
that night about what great luck a double MoonPie would bring. While preparing
my pack for the next day's hunt, I was sure to include a double MoonPie.
MoonPies do not last long in a hunter's pack in our camp. The next day,
my midday snack was just about finished by 8 a.m. when a nice 8 point
buck came by. I literally had to drop my last bite on the ground and grab
my rifle. That stand was christened the "Double MoonPie Blind"
that morning and will forever be called that by our deer camp. We are
seriously considering calling our group of hunters "The MoonPie Gang."
