Historical Memory

It was July twentieth, nineteen sixty-nine. I had taken my date to the local drive-in. Sometime around ten thirty, the screen went black and people began walking toward the concession stand. We got out and followed them, only to find we were part of a large crowd staring at a small black and white television which was perched on the roof. I ran to the snack bar and bought a Moon Pie. There we stood at ten fifty six as Neil Armstrong took his first steps onto the surface of the moon. We shared a moment in history and a "Moon Pie Memory."
