Most Heavenly Memory

I'm sure you get a lot of correspondence, but I wanted to share how thankful we are and how God is using moonpies at our church.

Recently as I prepared to preach on Missions weekend I found myself studying the story where Jesus fed the thousands with a few loaves and fishes. In light of the need of those people, He took nothing and made it something. As I shared this story with our congregation of 1400, I told them if they would give nothing to Missions God could make it something. I pointed out that we think "nothing" of buying our RCs and Moonpies everyday, which totals about $10 per week. So, I challenged them to give $10 per week to missions. Of course I did not ask them to give up their moonpies, for those of us in the south that would be blasphemy. To help with the points of the message I even gave out moonpies during the sermon just as the disciples gave out the food Jesus provided.
The results have been unreal. Over $250,000 has been pledged to Moonpie Missions. Everywhere I go town people are talking about Moonpies. Today I bought 16 cases of moonpies to give away at our Children's Carnival, and in December we will buy 1400 moonpies to include in our annual fruit bags.
I'm not sure all your correspondence is this positive, but this is one pastor who is thankful for Moonpies.
